Passover is over!

Well yeah finally Passover is now over officially. We can now eat all the chametz we want and we will be. A little funny thing about the first night seder. Since Karen and I have been married we have been hosting first night seder at our house and I have been cooking for it and we invite a lot of friends and family over. This year was a small seder and we told Sammy he was going to have to find the afikomen, he knew what this was because of Religious school and was excited. We have created our own tradition where the kids will find the afikomen and then they have to bring it to us and when they do, they will get a kiss from us and a small gift. No we are not having the kids then ransom it off or go and rehide the afikomen from the adults.

Well during the seder I got up and hid the afikomen and no one saw me get up to go hide it. When it came time to go and look for it Sammy and Maya had no idea where to look even with us giving them hints. So we pointed it out to them and they gave it to us. Well, while they were looking around Maya decided to pretend like she was going to bite Sammy, except she never got close to him, she was chasing him around the room opening and closing her jaw like Ms. Pac-Man, so for the rest of passover I kept calling her Ms. Pacman because she continued to do this and laugh about it while chasing Sammy around the whole house.

Sammy has developed a little mouth

The past couple of weeks have been very trying with Sammy. While he is learning the basics behind playing t-ball, he is still having trouble with understanding and not getting mad because he gets tagged out or if he doesn't get to tag a person out because they were too fast. He is a very smart young man who will be entering Kindergarten later this year, but until then he is still in Valley Childcare and Learning Center where his mouth is getting him into trouble.

He has learned some language we as adults may use on occasion but not appropriate for 5 year olds and continues to use it around school and at home. He doesn't seem to mind being sent to the office and having to call us. We have started a behavior chart system with him again to help him out. We have a feeling because he isn't being challenged this is why he has started to act up. He loves to talk and talk and talk much like his mother.... :-), but this is getting him in trouble at circle time when he is supposed to be quiet. He is a great young man who is growing up here in Phoenix with both parents being teachers and working with him he seems to be doing very well for himself. He loves to rough house with friends and also try to block his sister and prevent his sister from getting his stuff. Well, at times this backfires on him because Maya is now old enough she will tell him move, and at other times she likes to pretend she is going to bite him.

Maya is potty training

Well Maya is now officially potty training at home. We bought her big girls underwear last night from Target. She had an accident last night in her "monkey" underwear while watching her show before bed. She is very excited about doing this and is keeping us on our toes. She is so much fun to be with and a handful with her cute little actions. She is a typical little sister who is trying to get her brother in trouble (to her defense though her brother isn't totally innocent).

The other day she started to really wig out on us when any little thing (insects) moved around her and went ballistic when a fly was in the bathroom when we were trying to brush her teeth before going to bed. She was so worked up and scared she was crying when we put her in her bed. She wouldn't calm down and laid down on Karen. After that it still took her about 45 minutes to calm down and go to sleep on Karen, then Jason moved her to bed. It used to be we were able to close her bedroom door when she would go to sleep, though now she doesn't want it closed because she says there is a bee in her room or a fly. She has a choice if she wants her light on then we close the door or if she doesn't want the door closed she gets no light on in her room except her small night light. She doesn't get out of bed even when we are walking back and forth between the big room and any other part of the house and falls asleep without problems.
