Sammy's First Day of Kindergarten
Well, Sammy is now officially a Kindergarten student. He started Kindergarten today, July 23rd, 2007 at Larry C. Kennedy School in Phoenix, AZ. His teacher is Ms. Brandi Krogstad. Jason, took him to his classroom and stayed around the room for about 10 minutes. Sammy didn't need him staying around, once Sammy saw the room he went right to Ms. Krogstad and she took him to where his seat was. Once he was sitting down he was fine and ready to go. Jason, knowing many of the teachers on the campus because of this being a school in his district as well as the school Karen teaches at as well, hung around talking to a few teachers who were helping other students find their way. Sammy's room is directly across the courtyard/playground from Karen's room. He starts his day at 7:45AM and ends it at 1:45PM. So when he is finished with class he stays with Ms. Krogstad until Karen finishes teaching her first grade students at 2:15PM and then joins Karen in her classroom.
Sammy had fun today and was very excited and nervous at the same time. He started working on his letters beginning with the letter "A". In math he started working on besides and next to. When the principal of the school, Mr. Sean Hannafin, came into the room Sammy was used as a model to demonstrate a concept. Sammy was very excited to also be working with the Smart Board in his classroom. The smart board is an interactive whiteboard which is hooked up to a computer and you are controlling the computer and are able to capture what is being written on the board with the use of an LCD projector.
Sammy is looking forward to this year and learning so much. We are very excited for him and all he will be learning and seeing. He gets to drive in everyday with either Karen or Jason or both as they do carpool very often.
